GRAECIA is the latin name for the ancient Greek world, fairly often with the prefix Magna, then referring to the Greek poleis in Italy, from Sicily in the south all the way up to modern day Campania. In a way it is the perfect equalized fusion of ancient Greek and Roman culture summarized in one word. It is therefore a suiting name underlining the grandiose ambitions of the Stockholm based duo consisting of Christopher Landstedt and Martin Charlemaine. Born in the glamorous and alluring 1980’s, their teenage days are gone, but so are yours. And those who qualify by being of young age today are terrible old at heart and mind. So boring.
With their flair, tongue-in-cheek and Byronesque approach to life, the duo is completely out of fashion. It is all very l'esprit de l'escalier. Certainly, it is not for everyone. If you do enjoy Graecia, it shows your refined taste for the pleasures of music and its capability to express all things important. A luxurious and sophisticated Gesamtkunstwerk balancing the Dionysian and the Apollonian. They couldn’t see it coming and never expected this, but It’s Always the Quiet Ones, isn’t it? The debut took way too long to complete, but the knowledge seeking journey of lavish audio and production has paved the way for the future.
We surely have been missed, a lot!
